Number: Slumber.

My mind never sleeps,
My body only creaks,
Under those sheets.
Every night on repeat.
I can’t figure out how to delete,
That part of me that wants to retreat.
It’s too early,
For me to admit defeat.
I’m not meek.
Nor sleek.
I’m just another everyday freak.
The ones you only meet,
Out there in the streets.
Sometimes I wonder,
What is it that keeps me,
From going under?
Is it that bottled fury.
With the power of thunder.
That I’ve hidden away down under?
All I know.
Is that I comes awake,
When I slumber.
